Detailing Tips And Tricks / Supplies For Your Car

Using the tools below is the easy way to keep your car detailed. Using these products will stop you from needing to wash your car with a hose or go to a car wash. As you might have already guessed, running your car through a car wash is really harsh for the paint and dries out the rubber trim around windows and doors. Keep in mind for best results use the duster before the evening dew turns the dust on your car to mud. If you don't dust your car before that don't worry — the duster will still do most of the heavy lifting, but you probably will want to use the spray wax to remove the stuff that is remaining/stuck to the paint after dusting it off.

Step 1 — Dust MopUse the California Duster to get the dust off the car. Move the dust mop in straight lines so you don't have missed areas. On the side of the car use large swinging motion. FYI, shake out the dust mop about half way through cleaning the car or if it is leaving streaks. Do not push down on the dust mop — keep a light touch when using.
Step 2 — Spray WaxIf the paint feels rough to the touch, spray the quick wax on your clean microfiber towel and use it to clean the body of the car. Take care to NOT drop the towel on the floor to avoid getting small crumbs stuck to your towel that will scratch the paint. This product is safe and effective on all exterior surfaces. Use it immediately to get damaging tree sap off, bird droppings, bugs etc. Note: This product is only used when The Duster is not working.
Step 2 — Feather DusterUse feather duster on rims to remove brake dust so it does not have a chance to stick to the rims. Waxing your wheels also makes them less prone to having brake dust stick to them.
Step 4 — Rubber TrimUsing Meguiar's "HOTSHINE" using quick strokes (to minimize overspray) spray the rubber trim and door seals to keep it looking good and protect it from the elements. Let the spray dry before buffing to a shine. Use spray wax to clean up any overspray on glass and paint.
Step 5 — Tire DressingTo avoid getting on the rims, spray with tire dressing in quick semicircular strokes (wipe off any overspray off the rims to avoid attracting dust). Note you can also spray wheel wells to get rid of that dry chalky look.
